Sharing of good agricultural practices
18.11.2016
A very pleasant and useful weekend for Botanica Life Foundation. On 12th and 13th of November the chair of the board of the foundation Dr Apostol Apostolov visited two farms in the field of sustainable agriculture, and made himself familiar with some good practices.
Dr Apostolov visited Paul and Sophie`s farm- Balcan Ecology Project in the town of Shipka during the Open Days Weekend. There were visitors from Great Britain, Japan, Israel.
Paul and Sophie came to live in Bulgaria in 2005. At first they transformed the garden of their house in a small permaculture garden, and some time after they bought another plot of land to grow fruits and vegetables for commercial purposes. They call it “market garden”. After 9 years of hard work, Paul and Sophie have their regular customers, who buy the produce. They say there is a great interest in what they do, and are sure strong marketing can expand their activities.
During the visit Dr Apostolov introduced the hosts to the foundation`s activities and expressed his wish for cooperation. Paul and Sophie were impressed by the idea of educating young people from Bulgaria in sustainable agriculture and promised to visit the grounds in Nadarevo.
On the next day, Dr Apostolov visited the farm of Veselin Oreshkov in the town of Troyan. The meeting was in the garden , where Mr.Oreshkov and his daughter –Yana Stoeva were preparing the seedlings of “Chaenomeles mauley” (mountain lemon). In the conversation Dr Apostolov discussed the idea of extracurricular classes in nature and received a lot of advices and ideas.
Botanica Life Foundation is thankful for the hospitality!
