Botanica Life Foundation encourages the introduction of new professions in vocational education.
15.12.2018
A Forum on topic of “Your vision, our future’’ took place at the Professional High School of Agriculture in the town of Popovo on 10th December 2018. Apostol Apostolov from Botanica Life Foundation took part in the discussion.
The purpose of the forum was to help the orientation of vocational education and teaching at the school towards the needs of the labor market and the economy, with regards to admission at the school, educational content and the realization of the graduates. Representatives of the local and regional authorities, represented by the Regional Governor, Mr Mitko Staykov, the head of the Regional Inspectorate of Education, Mrs Elka Stancheva, took part in the forum. Other participants included members of educational organizations and small/medium-sized local businesses, such as agricultural cooperatives and farmers from the region, restaurants, teachers and students.
Some concrete ideas about the introduction of new professions in vocational education were proposed. For example, the audience proposed that the school offered two new professions in 2019 – “Agroecology” and “Small and Medium Business”.
All participants agreed with the need to “bring students out” of theoretical training and offer more practice-oriented placements in real work environments. Thus, the students will be better prepared for the labor market and will be able to apply their knowledge in the real world.

The introduction of the profession “Agroecology” in vocational training is very important development for Bulgaria. It contains the principles of sustainable agriculture, which Botanica life Foundation applies and promotes in its work.

We support and will continue to support the Agricultural School in the town of Popovo, by providing them with a learning space and a practice filed in the village of Nadarevo, where students can apply their knowledge in “Agroecology” and they can learn from practical experience.
Some students from the school took care of the good mood of the Forum participants. They presented a traditional scene of celebrating the day of St. Ignatiy (Ignazhden). We wish the Agricultural School of Popovo to keep their high national spirit and their genuine desire for development and realization of all their graduates!
