An exciting week with new friends.

15.06.2018

The one-week-long training course, organised by Botanica Life Foundation, is over. It was on the subject of “Sustainable Agriculture: key principles and methods of growing organic food”. The young people who participated in the course were very enthusiastic and genuinely interested in the topic. They received valuable knowledge and practical advice from Galina Pencheva, a teacher in sustainable agriculture at the Foundation. Together with Galina, the students worked restlessly in the garden, taking a lot of care of the vegetation - forming vegetable beds, planting, mulching, and building a composting pile.

Due to the great interest of the students, the manager of Botanica Life’s farm, Mr Peter Petrov, spared of his time to talk to the young people and made a demonstration how to operate the little tractor, used for working the land.

During the training, the students had a meeting with Mr Fritz Wassman, from Switzerland, who acquainted them with his work as garden Designer, and talked to them about sustainable development and environmental issues.

In the meantime, the work of creating a natural lake in Botanica’s gardens continues. It is led by Mr Wassman, with the assistance of garden designer Dr Ivelina Radilova. We thank them for their dedication and invaluable support, and we are grateful to Barbara and Kurt Gehring who support the lake project!

We also thank the Professional High School of Agriculture of the town of Popovo, the Professional High School of Agriculture of the town of Targovishte, the Centre for Special Educational Support in Targovishte, and the Regional Administration of Education – Targovishte, for their support for organising the training course.
