Open discussion about Suggestopedia

12.03.2018

On the 10th of March in Varna’s Farmers Market was held an event called “Open discussion about Suggestopedia”. The presenters, Sonia Mineva and Pavlina Nikolova, are using the method in language teaching.

It was a real pleasure for us to visit this intriguing presentation and immerse ourselves in the lovely atmosphere. The speakers told us not only about the main features of the method, but also about their own practical experience in using it.

Suggestopedia is a teaching method created by professor Lozanov and developed by him together with professor Evelina Gateva in the 1960s. The result of suggestopedic learning is long-term and quick memorizing of a large volume of material without fatigue, annoying repetitions, tension or fear.

In 1978 the method was recognized by UNESCO as the best method of training groups of students in various subjects.

The method is widely used in many countries, even more widely than in the country of its origin - Bulgaria. And yet, in recent years, it witnesses a vivid revival in Bulgaria. Used mostly in foreign language learning, the method is also applicable in various subjects, as well as in schools and nurseries.

After the exciting presentation, we talked to Sonia and Polly about what we do in Botanica Life, and exchanged very interesting ideas. We believe that those ideas can be used in our courses in sustainable agriculture, and that we can learn how to learn, as in play.
