Sustainable agriculture for sustainable future
31.05.2022
At the end of May 2022, Botanica Life Foundation held its latest training course on sustainable agriculture, led by our talented lecturer and practitioner - Galina Pencheva. In the village of Nadarevo, we hosted 13 wonderful and open-minded people, who had a desire to do something useful for their families and society as a whole. Most of them took part in the online training we provided during the winter months and arrived here with a basket of questions, having already done some work on their small farms. This made the training even more valuable because, along with the general theory, Galina gave them specific guidance. The students had the opportunity to participate in most of the activities related to sustainable agriculture – planting tomatoes in a way that supports their root system and better growth, mulching, making herbal solution (from comfrey, nettle, yarrow, etc.) to treat the plants in order to prevent diseases and pests, as well as for better nutrition.
Galina's lectures covered various types of alternative agriculture which are practiced around the world - old sustainable agricultural practices, organic farming, permaculture, biodynamic agriculture and others.
We are happy that our training centre and gardens become an attractive place for unique people with big hearts who are ready to help us achieve the goals and mission of Botanica Life Foundation. Our family is growing! We are extremely grateful to everyone who devoted their free time to help us with our current tasks in the demonstration garden as well as making the space in front of the training center more beautiful and cozy.
In return, we shared with our guests the story of Botanica Life Foundation – how we got here and what our dreams are for the future. We also went for a walk to the lake, which is part of the overall concept of our place, and it delighted us with its blooming water lilies.
We look forward to new meetings with the participants and we are ready to host the next ones for the second edition of the course this year, which starts soon (June 17-21).
