For some people, vacation equals holiday, games and free activities, for others it is a time for journeys, discoveries and new experiences. At our place, all kinds are possible, and we are always happy to see that our visitors are having their everyday life diversified.

Since the beginning of the summer, and the end of the school year, we have already had a few groups of children at different age and motives for visiting us. Our visitors range from high school youngsters with professional interest in our gardening activity and rural tourism offers to little students from elementary school and kindergarden who come to find out where tasty vegetables come from and to drop some seeds in the soil.

The first group we welcomed was grade 8 students from the professional agriculture high school in the town of Silistra. Their visit was the first trip for them as a class together. Except for knowledge of sustainable agriculture and a chance for practice, their stay at our educational camp was also an opportunity to bond and learn more about each other. They prepared their meals, served the table, and cleaned after they had dined.

After them, we had the children from the regional resource center in Targovishte. Together we discovered different plants and played games. We planted and watered corn, zucchini and garlic in one vegetable beds. It was an exciting and jolly experience for all of us.

We continue our successful partnership with the professional school of agriculture in Popovo. Already for several years, their students come to have vocational training in our gardens. This year a few classes from grade 10 put their footprint in our place. They worked with great enthusiasm and passion and learned about putting mulch, weeding, putting wooden construction and nets for the plants.

Other pupils from the same school and age, but from a different specialty (rural tourism), visited Botanica Life’s guest house. We shared our experience and practice in the sphere of tourism. We showed them how to arrange towels, how to clean and rearrange rooms. We presented our way of organising events and attract visitors’ interest.

While we work, we exchange ideas, debate and discuss different practices, we share experience and re-discover the surrounding environment through the eyes of children and young people. What can be better than this? Summer is time for new findings, joy and enrichment in all aspects of life.
