Practical course on sustainable gardening, June 2022
24.06.2022
For a second time, since the beginning of Spring, guest house "Botanika" welcomed a group of curious and warm-hearted people who come to participate in our practical course on sustainable gardening.
From the very beginning, team members and course participants bonded and felt like a big family. Everyone was involved in everything. Chef Kiril Georgiev made sure that we were well and deliciously fed, but the guests also prepared something for a treat every day.
The presentations were actuallyinteractive discusions, during which everyone could ask a question and get an answer to a pressing problem in their garden, share their own experience and knowledge on individual topics (types of alternative agriculture, composting, allelopathy, crop rotation, plant protection with ecological means, maintaining the vitality and fertility of the soil, etc.). We spent some time on "plant astrology" as well. In other words, we discussed how to use Maria Thun's lunar calendar. What united us was our philosophical understanding of life - our love for plants, animals and people, for Nature and Mother Earth, in general.
Among the practical activities in the garden was the preparation of the beds and the planting of the sorgum, from which a delicious jam “madjzun” is made. The students also mulched the tomatoes, took care of peppers and watermelons, sprayed with the solutions which we learned how to make. We are also grateful for their help in the garden in front of the guest house!
The participants in the course also got acquainted with the activities of BotancaLife Foundation. Apostol Apostolov told them about the history of the foundation and about the volunteers who have contributed to the growth of the organisation.
In the end, everyone went home, taking with themselves a lot of knowledge, skills and warm feelings. It really was an unforgettable experience!
The next course on sustainable agriculture will take place in the period 19-23 August 2022.
