On 21st of June – the Summer solstice – we held the first herbal workshop for the year. Led by Lora Nikolova – a phytotherapist and nature pedagogue - we went for a sensual cognitive walk, dedicated to the plants in the surroundings of Nadarevo. During the walk, we dedicated a special moment of appreciation to the Sun, and we learned the basic principles of communication with herbs and plants. By playing games for developing our sense of smell, observational skills and better connection with the surrounding environment, we paid attention to the yarrow, mint, the flowers of parsley and coriander. We picked up herbal bouquets and, after a tasty lunch, we began the herbal workshop. We set a herbal smoke and spoke about the rituals and types of using herbal smoke. We prepared herbal mixes and herbal sticks for such rituals according to the personal preferences and senses. We prepared an ointment from calendula and plantago, which has a calming, smoothing and regenerating effect on the skin, and is suitable for wounds and insect bites. We made a tincture of yarrow and a homemade mouthwash. At the end of the workshop, we thanked Nature for the gifts it presents to us all.
